Missions
Christian Community Ministries Christian Community Ministries is a crisis ministry for those with immediate needs. Lyttleton Street UMC is one of the sponsor members of this community-based ministry. Our church supports Christian Community Ministries on a ongoing-basis with food items needed for their food pantry to help the needy in the community.
Every other year our church sponsors a Habitat House in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. On May 8th, 2005, we broke ground on our third Habitat House which was constructed on the grassy area of the church property along Fair Street. Upon completion, the house was moved to its permanent location on Carter Street with its new family.
Salkehatchie Summer Service - Wateree Camp Salkehatchie is a mission providing home repair services to people in need in our own community. It meets for one week each summer for work on houses needing repair. You will sweat, be sore from climbing, lifting, and painting; but you will be enriched beyond measure as you show God's love through service to others! There are many camps throughout South Carolina with the Wateree Camp being sponsored by Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden, SC. In 2006, 2006 & 2007, we sent teams to Biloxi, Mississippi to help the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast with clean up after Hurricane Katrina. Many homes were completely washed away by the storm or damaged beyond repair. Our teams helped homeowners clean out and "gut" water-damaged homes in preparation for repair and refurbishing.
